German Saturday School
Milton Keynes

About

About Us

The German Saturday School Milton Keynes was founded in 2019. We teach children with existing German language skills. German as a foreign language is not taught. We have no minimum age and are on the path to offering classes for children up to GCSE. We are OFSTED registered and accept Childcare Vouchers/Tax Free Childcare Accounts.

We operate as a non-profit organization. Our fees are set to cover costs such as room rental and insurance, and to pay our tutors, teaching assistants and clerks a competitive market rate. Our goal is to be a focal point of the German community in the long term. Excess income is reinvested into the school.

OUR FOUNDERS

Ellen.jpg

Ellen

Ellen Wilson is a native German speaker and has two children, Alex and Lara. Born in Stuttgart, she lives in Milton Keynes. Ellen's main motivation for founding the Saturday School was to get to know other German speakers. It is important to her that school is fun and enjoyable for the children.

Isabell

Isabell Kospanos grew up in Austria. She lives in Leighton Buzzard and works in Marketing. It is important to Isabell that her children also speak German outside of their own home and that they get to know Austrian traditions, which was what motivated her to set up the Saturday School.

Kerstin

Kerstin Layton comes from Münster in Nordrhein-Westfalen and works as a sports therapist for an international media agency. She moved to Milton Keynes with her family in 2017. It is important to her to teach her daughter Leni to read and write in German, her mother tongue, and also to keep German traditions and make many friends along the way.

Our Team

We are very fortunate to have a team of highly dedicated and knowledgeable teachers at our Saturday School.  We are always happy to welcome new teachers and helpers at our schools!
