About
The ONLINE DSS is a German Saturday School that runs completely online for everybody who can't make it to our in-person lessons!
Despite being online, we still learn German through activities - we play games, invent new things, cook and bake, do arts and crafts, and history and geography! We strive to create a fun and stimulating environment where children, young people and adults alike can enjoy themselves and learn German by using it actively and purposefully in reading, writing, listening and speaking.
Older children and teenagers can do the full German GCSE and A-level curriculum with us, preparing them for an exam when they are ready.
Our groups are small throughout for lots of individual attention and interaction. There is a group for everyone - no matter if beginner or bilingual!
The ONLINE DSS leads to a German GCSE, A-level, or an internationally recognized telc exam.

Marianne
School Head
Marianne established the ONLINE DSS in 2020, initially as an emergency solution for students who needed to keep studying German during the Covid-10 pandemic. Meanwhile, the ONLINE DSS has around 120 students on roll. With over 30 years in education and degrees from the University of Zurich and Warwick, Marianne also serves as the Managing Director at the German Academy, and actively promotes bilingual learning in the UK. Her own two children are trilingual, and fluent in English, German, and Schwizerdütsch :)
Sarah
Admin and Finance Manager
Sarah is originally from Stuttgart in Germany and has lived in England for over 11 years. She studied English and Italian literature at the University of Stuttgart. After a three-year stay in Montréal (Canada), she settled with her husband in Coventry in 2012. Their three sons grow up bilingual. Besides her responsibilities for the ONLINE DSS, she also teaches German at the German Saturday School in Leicester.
